Games I Like
I love games. Playing them, analyzing them, dedicating my whole life to them. So naturally, I have a lot of opinions to share! While I gravitate towards certain genres, I consider myself quite a multifaceted gamer, I can play about any genre as long as I'm in the mood for it and the aesthetics hit me.
Metroidvanias
The definition of metroidvania is contentious. I will preface that I am in fact one of the weirdos who considers Zelda games (or at least some of them, I need to further reflect on the 3D ones) metroidvanias. "Metroidvania" is a term I use to describe a certain vibe of game that I like, and 2D Zelda games give me that vibe.
Metroid Dread
My favorite Metroid game for sure. Buttery smooth movement, good combat, maybe the best villain the franchise has ever had. Some people don't like how the game funnels your progress sometimes, but I don't mind. It doesn't really make the game feel
JRPGs
People tend to define JRPGs by their place of origin, but I personally refer to them by the tropes they popularized. Turn-based combat, character-based storytelling, the whole nine yards. That is what defines a JRPG to me, regardless of being made in Japan or not.
Action/Adventure/Puzzle Platformers
It would be easier to just say "platformers", but that would not be accurate. The platformers I like are the ones that have a focus on combat, exploration, or puzzles. I can't really play something like 2D Mario games for long because they just don't offer what I'm looking for. I can definitely like 3D platformers though, I am very into expressive movement, though expressive platformers aren't particularly important enough for me to include them in this category.
